The woman behind the paintings

Saina Rashed is a texture artist based in Ottawa, Canada — and Saina Rashed Texture Artist is not a big commercial art company. It is one woman, one palette knife, and a garden that grows petal by petal on her easel.

Saina never went to art school. She is entirely self-taught, and painting began purely for happiness — a quiet joy she made room for simply because it lifted her heart. There was no business plan at the start; there were flowers, thick paint, and the simple pleasure of watching a garden appear where a blank canvas had been.

She has built all of this alongside a full-time career in healthcare. The painting happens in the margins of a busy working life — evenings, weekends, treasured hours at the easel — and perhaps that is why every piece carries so much care: each one was made in time she chose to give to beauty.

And she does not do it alone. Saina is a mother, and family sits at the very heart of this story. Her husband and her children were her very first supporters — encouraging her, believing in the dream, and cheering her on from those first hobby paintings all the way to the commissions and Texture Parties of today.

Their help is wonderfully real, not just kind words: her daughter has even directed one of her most-loved painting videos, and the whole family lends patience, encouragement and practical help around everyday life. This little business did not grow apart from family life — it grew inside it, held up by the people she loves most. From hobby to this: it is their belief in her that helped a happiness practice become a business she is proud of.

What began as a personal happiness practice grew, piece by piece, into something much bigger. Friends asked for paintings of their own; then bespoke commissions began arriving for homes across Ottawa, and her exclusive Texture Parties followed — evenings where guests pick up a palette knife and discover the same joy for themselves.

Through it all, nothing is outsourced and nothing is mass-made. Working almost entirely with a palette knife, Saina sculpts every petal by hand in thick, joyful texture — so her gardens catch the light, cast tiny shadows, and stay in bloom all year round. When you commission a piece or book a party, you are working with Saina herself. That personal touch is the brand.
